Identity Design, Brand Strategy, UI/UX Design
PkUp is a new service designed to assist people with micro-moves. If you don’t own a large vehicle, then you’re probably familiar with the struggle of moving large furniture or having to borrow a truck, just to get something from point A to point B. It’s an all too common problem that inspired the launch of the PkUp app. PkUp leverages a sharing network of reliable, background-checked drivers with various sized vehicles, ready to help transport whatever you need to wherever you need.
We were initially brought in to create the interactive visual experience of their application, but through our discovery process, we determined that they were up against a much larger competitive network (fig. 1). Luckily they still have the advantage of being first to market in their region, but to maintain that standing in the long run, they needed a solid foundation on which to promote and build their brand.
Being a fast-paced startup environment, we moved quickly to develop a simple identity solution (fig. 2 + 3) that could stand apart visually from their competition and connect with their audience (contractors as well as customers). We used that foundation to influence the rest of their design system and worked iteratively to wireframe user flows (fig. 4) and create a final UI system that was applied across the entire experience.
